The event is super fast due to the terrain being pan-flat so you will need to train differently to make sure you have the specific fitness needed for this challenge. Living in Norfolk which is also flat I am fully aware of what fitness demands will be needed.

I have created specific sessions within this training plan to target the demands so that you are able to complete this challenge in your fastest time!  It allows for a longer weekend club ride so you can still ride with your mates and there are midweek turbo trainer sessions. This plan is not designed to be easy however based around your custom training zones so that you will be training within your own capabilities. You will arrive at the start line knowing you have done the work!

When does it start?

The official start date for this Ride London-Essex 8-week training plan is the 1st of April 2024 and will take you right up to the start line on Sunday 26th of May 2024. Although the plan is yours to keep so you can start and re-use as many times as you wish. This means you can copy some of the weeks session and start early to get ahead of the competition!

How many hours per week?

This plan has been based around 8-10 hours of training per week. Some weeks slightly more and others slightly less. I have indicated key sessions along with optional sessions so you can pick and choose each week depending on training time available.

Can I use this plan if riding the 50 or 75mile on the day?

Yes of course, the demands of the event are similar whichever distance you are compleating on the day. Feel free if going the shorter distance to reduce the volume of the training in the plan by missing the optional sessions.
