🗓️ Starts in October  |  ⏱️ 28 weeks  |  🎯 Start line ready

312km. Over 5,000m of climbing. The hardest one-day sportive in Europe - and the riders who finish it comfortably are the ones who started training in October, not January.

This is the complete road to the Mallorca 312: 28 unbroken weeks of coached, structured training that takes you from wherever you are right now, builds the engine over winter, then sharpens it into event-specific fitness and delivers you to the start line ready. Two of our best Academies, joined end to end, with no gap and no guesswork in between.

Phase 1 - The Ride Harder Academy (Weeks 1-12, October to December)

You start on our top-rated 12-week programme - the Academy that makes you a complete cyclist, not just a fitter one. Built on the Train Smart ethos, it gets you faster for less effort while sorting out the things most riders ignore all winter: strength, nutrition, mindset, habits and skills. This is where the engine gets built.

Phase 1 includes:
✅ 12 Week structured plan
✅ Wellness & Mindset tips
✅ Strength & Mobility gym/home workout plan
✅ Nutrition webinars and workshops
✅ Access to multiple coaches
✅ Essential Cycling Skills & Secret Hacks
✅ Live Workouts with Academy members and coaches
✅ Access to the Ride Harder Community group for Q&A, support and making new friends
📈 Training Volume: 6-12 hours per week

Phase 2 — The Mallorca 312 Academy (Weeks 13-28, January to Race Day)

In January you roll straight into the Academy that has helped 100's of riders complete their chosen distance. Everything now points at one day in Mallorca: event-specific endurance, the long-ride progression, the fuelling, the descending, the pacing, the kit and the travel. You arrive knowing exactly what the day is going to ask of you - because you'll already have rehearsed it.

How Phase 2 is built:
Month 1: Base fitness (wk16 - wk13)
Month 2: Muscular Endurance, event-specific build (wk12 - wk9)
Month 3: Build (wk8 - wk5)
Month 4 Part 1: Peak (wk4 - wk3)
Month 4 Part 2: Taper (wk2 - Event)

Phase 2 includes:
✅ 16 Week progressive structured plan
✅ Nutrition resources, webinars and advice
✅ Race Day specific advice and guides
✅ Secret 312 hacks
✅ Optional Group Workouts
✅ Travel advice
✅ Part of the biggest 312 Training Community
✅ Access to new content
📈 Training Volume: 8-12 hours per week (optional sessions available if time allows)

Why 28 weeks beats 16

Riders who join in January spend their first month building base fitness they could have had before Christmas. That's a month of event-specific training lost. Starting in October means you enter the 312 block already strong - so those 16 weeks are spent getting fast, not getting started. It is the single biggest difference between finishing the 312 and enjoying it.

Every session is planned out in advance, giving you the structure you need with the flexibility to train when it suits you. And you're never doing it alone - going through it in the community environment keeps you motivated and gives you a place to ask questions and make friends. With the support of the Ride Harder head coach and the group, you stay accountable and committed to completing the plan, and that is how you complete the event.

All your questions answered 👇

I don't know what distance I'm going to ride?

No problem - at the Mallorca 312 it's fine to decide on the day which distance you want to complete.

In terms of choosing the right plan, it's all about how much time you have to train

167km plans: 6-8 hrs per week
225km plans: 8-10 hrs per week
312km plans: 10-12 hrs per week

Choose the level of plan you can commit to and our training plans will provide you with the fitness and capability to achieve that distance!

How many sessions/days will I be training per week?

This depends on the type of plan and also the stage of the plan. 3-4 weeks out from your event will be your highest volume of training.

Typically, you'll have 2 key shorter sessions midweek, and a longer ride on the weekend.

There are plenty of optional sessions so you can choose to train as much as you feel like!

Can I still ride with friends?

Each session is designed to be completed within your training zones - training with others can make that difficult.

However, a lot of the weekend rides are Zone 2 rides at a consistent pace. Provided you are at a similar level of fitness, or can control the pace, riding these with friends should be no problem at all

What do I need?

Minimum:

✅ A bike
✅ A Heart Rate Monitor
✅ A TrainingPeaks Account (free)
✅ Ability to track power either indoors (on a turbo/Wattbike) or outside on your bike

What if I miss a session?

Don't panic! Life gets in the way sometimes. The plans take a long-term approach to training, so one session won't set you back.

If you miss a week or more through illness or injury, make sure you're fully rested before restarting the plan. If you can, try to increase the volume.

If you're ever unsure, reach out to me for help!

Can I move the sessions around?

Of course - try to keep the same order of sessions, as they are planned to be progressive.

The plans are originally set out to work around the usual working week (shorter midweek sessions, longer weekend sessions)

You can move these around to suit you

What's so good about this plan compared to general 'Gran Fondo' or endurance plans?

I have found that the Mallorca 312 provides riders with unique challenges. The elevation is testing, with climbs coming in quick succession, with a vastly different course profile in the second half of the event.

Having done this event 7 times - I have been able to tailor this plan and improve it year on year specifically for this challenge.

Rather than just prescribing a high training load, I've always focused on making this plan fit around a working lifestyle, so you're training smarter.
