LEJOG Day 8

Darren awake this morning with fear and dread with what was to come for todays ride as there was some climbing planned and due to the location we could not find a planned stop for 66miles! I had also rounded the distance down of our final destination which is exactly what he would do to me to suit his needs. This means we had another 100+ miles today.

We set sail and continued around the rest of loch Lomond enjoying the views while there was very little traffic. There was some steep hills on the course and Darren actually said ” I think I’ve taken on too much today” just as we rode passed a gate that blocks the road off in the snow!

IMG_0126After we had a quick coffee break the next 30miles or so was riding right through the valleys between snow covered mountains! There was no chance of seeing a Costa as was very bleak with  nothing on the horizon!

We had some great views all round today with Loch’s and mountains but I think reaching Fort William for the first stop of the day was Darren’s highlight!

Once refuelled it was onto find the Loch Ness Monster which again meant more climbing but again some great views. Darren is really getting the have of this peeing by the road and nearly going as much as me!

Riding beside Darren it looks like his saddle has slipped somewhat so looks like I will be doing a quick bike fit on the move tomorrow, unfortunately I have not brought my Retul equipment with me so the heel on the pedal will have to do!

Our stop for the day was in Invermoriston which is about halfway upIMG_0134 the lock. We have found a lovely B&B that has every malt whisky available so I have given the Landlady the task of finding one that I will like!

We only have about 145miles left of the trip which I am keen to tackle in one go but Darren does not share the same desire so looks like one and a half days to go!
